Basil de Sousa: Drummer and co-founder of the Bassalindos, has played drums for many years and is also extremely skillful on congas and percussion of all types. In addition, this ebullient and convivial performer also does wonderful vocals. He is especially appreciated in his affable Louis Armstrong voice- delighting young and old and all in between. Basil has played at many Festivals and locations around the world. He was featured in the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1993. A charismatic drummer of great range and scope, he has played various styles in groups ranging from: a Gospel Choir of 50 voices, to Jazz ensembles of all kinds and even a Dixieland Band. On a sunny note, Mr. De Sousa has regaled guests as a live performer for international Club Med stages on 17 different occasions. Basil is the rhythm, the rhyme and the reason behind the Bassalindos.
